eRation Server

eRation Server drives the connections between all of your eRation Chatters. Just like the client it’s easy to set-up with a simply user-interface. Of course, it’s completely customizable and extendable using the redACT plug-in architecture. Robust, and fast it can deal with 1000’s of simultaneous connections. What’s more, you don’t just have to plug-into it, you can use it as the heart of a whole new net-tech project.

Installation

eRation Server has been built to just plug-into your environment. Although it ships with it’s own database for user-names, sessions, and passwords, it can be integrated with any database that has a JDBC driver. Importantly that includes Oracle, mySQL, and Access. Basic configuration can be done on the server itself, or remotely using the eRation Server agent, which makes controlling your server easy. Of course, once it’s running it can deal with as many connections as your OS can support, and yes, that means 1000’s.

Integration

There’s nothing worse for your site visitors than having to remember one password for your site/forum, and another for your chat tool. Even worse, having their prized forum username used by someone else in the chat! eRation Server 2.5 can integrate with most popular forums (phpBB and vBulletin for example) using their user-lists to control logins. Further more, using plug-ins like the vBulletin Avatar engine, and users can even take their forum avatars into the chat room, without ever having to do a thing.

Extensibility

eRation Sever 2.5 is built using the redACT framework. This means that you can plug-in new GUI features, new message types (or over-ride the existing ones) if you wish. You can even take the eRation Sever API and plug it in as a simple component into your applications, wherever you need a stable and trusted communications server. Of course, you can still rely on the redACT update servers keeping your installation and customers up-to-date with the latest versions.
